What Sets POP Apart From Other Brokers

In no particular order …

We actively work with buyers to build a relationship and find them the perfect boat. We don’t just stick your boat on the internet and say a Hail Mary for a buyer to find it. Our buyers get regular e-mails of listing suggestions based on their search criteria. In order for buyers to look at more than 5 photos on our website, they give us their e-mail address or phone number so we can actively engage with them. In exchange, our website is fast, so it’s easy for them to view our listings quickly and there are NO ADS!

Our website has NO ADS! Our focus is on selling your boat and finding the perfect boat for our buyers. We trust if they are looking for car tires or fishing gear, they know where to look.

We have an amazing automated search system. Once a buyer lets us know their search criteria, we send them listings to review which match what they are looking for.

We keep you informed. Because we actively work with buyers, we have the ability to let you know how your boat is doing on the market. You’ll receive a detailed weekly seller’s report along with periodic e-mails informing you of buyers who have shown a significant interest in your boat.

We strive to make every single transaction easy and enjoyable for everyone! Life is too short for stress and hassles, especially when buying or selling a “pleasure” boat.

We have fun doing what we do and want you to too. Everyone at POP works together as a team and we are never in competition with each other. We pride ourselves on excellent communication and genuinely enjoy working together for our buyers and sellers.

We are honest and believe in full disclosure. We don’t want to waste buyers, sellers or our own time by misrepresenting the boats we list. Our “warts and all” approach means buyers know from the start exactly what they are looking at or making an offer on. On many broker’s websites, often it’s not what’s in the listing, but what’s not!

We work just as hard for lower priced boats as we do for higher priced ones. Not everyone has an expensive boat to sell or a fortune to spend on a boat. Why should they be less important? We love helping sellers sell their boats and buyers find the boat of their dreams, regardless of the price.

We give specialized attention. Each department specializes in what they do best  – listing, sales, deal negotiations, closing, customer service, accounting and management – so you will get top-notch service every step of the way. This means your sales representative is focused solely on selling your boat – not scrambling for new listings or compiling closing documents on other sales. This structure truly sets POP apart from other brokers.

We have an amazing closing department!!! Our team of dedicated closing coordinators will handle all aspects of the close of the sale. No documents change hands until all funds have cleared our escrow account and are transferred into your personal bank account. So, there is NO RISK to either you or the buyer! Our “CCs” are also excellent problem solvers who work very hard to overcome any challenges which might arise to ensure our sales go smoothly and are hassle-free for everyone. Our “CCs” are engaged and invested in the sale every step of the way after an offer is signed by both parties – from scheduling inspections to ensuring all documents and funds are in order. Many brokerages just outsource this.

We answer our phones and return calls. As obvious as this sounds, many brokers do not! Because our sales team are only focused on sales, we have time to focus on our buyers and sellers. We are not being pulled in several different directions sourcing new listings, compiling closing documentation or overseeing financial transactions. Although the internet and e-mail are key to selling boats now, we still understand the importance of using the phone.

We can move quickly. Because everything is done electronically including notarized paperwork and wire transfers, if both the buyer and seller are ready to move quickly on a sale, we can make it happen. For example, I sold a boat to an international buyer in Moldova – from the initial offer to close – in just over 24 hours … not including transport, of course!

We will never encourage inflated pricing to increase our own commission. We want sellers to price their boats competitively so they will sell! We can provide BUC and/or NADA valuations along with comps to make sure your boat is priced well. We also use the free tool www.soldboatprice.com which shows actual sold boat prices, not first or last asking prices.

We don’t believe in using sold or cancelled listings as “buyer magnets.” When a boat goes under contract, sells or is cancelled, this is clearly stated on our website. If a buyer contacts us about one of these (usually through an external website such as Boat Trader or they just plain didn’t see it,) we will steer them towards another boat but it is never our intention to advertise boats which are no longer available to lure in new buyers. We have too many other active boats to sell!

We love feedback and are always trying to improve. If you’re ever not happy with me or anyone in the company, we’d like to hear about it. You can either contact me directly (kristin@popsells.com) or our customer service manager Lauri Crockett (lauric@popsells.com.) If you’re satisfied, we love to hear that too!

You can still sell your boat yourself. Please read here for more information. With POP Yachts, you can still sell it privately to anyone who was not first found through POP’s marketing efforts. Many brokerages require that commission is still due to them if you sell to anyone within a period of six to twelve months after cancellation. Please check the contract very carefully if you choose to list with another broker!

You can still use your boat while it’s listed with us. Unlike consignment programs, you get to keep your boat in it’s current location and continue to enjoy it until we find a buyer.

We never charge a marketing or photography fee – EVER! Our services are completely FREE until we finalize the sale of your boat. Some brokerages charge this just to list your boat – or once you cancel. Again, please check contracts very carefully.

We do everything electronically. There is no need for either you or a buyer to print, sign and scan anything. We have an online notary service so sellers do not have to run around to find a notary to sign their final documents. Everything – from the listing agreement to the offer agreement to the buyer’s acceptance of vessel to the closing paperwork – can be done online or on a smart phone. We also strongly encourage wire transfers so there is no waiting for checks to clear. We get many compliments on how smooth the transaction is, even from non-tech savvy folks!

We are always open to doing co-broke sales. If another broker finds a buyer for your boat, we are always happy to work with them to get it sold.
